See Zerger Run

The 24-hour "Woodsfield Run For Kids" will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7, 2001 in Woodsfield, Ohio.

Runners travel the one-mile loop course in the residential area of Woodsfield. The goal for each runner is to run as many miles as possible in the 24-hour period. All runners are encouraged to secure pledges toward their chosen children's charity.

This event is now in its 24th year and has raised almost $330,000 for at least seven Children's hospitals.

Last year, John Zerger of Salisbury, NC, completed 102 miles in the 24-hour run. Funds raised by Zerger at the 2000 run were donated to the Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. This year, Zerger has chosen the American Red Cross, specifically the Hope For Marrow Samantha Washko Fund, to benefit from pledges he collects in support of his run. Money raised will help fund bone marrow drives.
