The Grandfather Mountain Marathon and The Bear Run organizers have the vision to provide a challenging
and unique race experience that benefits charitable oganizations.
All proceeds from these races will go to:

Chairman and Race Director - John Weaver He is the Director of Track and Cross Country at Appalachian State University.
Coach Weaver is the RACE DIRECTOR. He is also responsible for the course including aid stations. Board member - Dr. Jim Deni. He is a faculty member at ASU. Dr. Deni is the liason between The Highland Games and
our races. He is responsible for the finish line crews and the awards.
Board member - Peter Vandenburg - He is an ASU staff member and a former ASU Track standout.
Peter is responsible for your refreshments and food at the finish line. Board member - Cathy LaMarre: She is a computer programmer analyst and is responsible for the results and the WEB site. She has been a volunteer with this marathon for 20+ years. Thank you for your support !
